Sara Coffey for VT

Goal:
Create a political election campaign identity that speaks to two politically divergent towns to authentically represent a progressive candidate who is a strong rural community advocate.
Strategy:
  • Find common ground without while avoiding deluding the strength of the candidate or the community values she represents.
  • We researched local demographics and successful campaigns that bridged political districts as well as those of dynamic female politicians.
  • Drew inspiration from clapboard which is a traditional building material for homes and community buildings such as the Broad Brook Grange which was the recipient of a restoration project spearheaded by Sara.
  • We chose the color orange both to reinforce Sara’s image as a fiery red-head, to radiate bright, positive energy, and as a nod to the Irish, Scottish, and British roots of many longtime residents. We also specifically wanted to avoid green, blue, and red which can all be politically triggering and divisive. Additionally, we wanted orange to stand out in Vermont’s lush green landscape.

    • Results:
    Sara received 65% of the vote to gain a seat as Vermont State Representative in 2018 and kept her seat in 2022 with 66% of the vote. She continues to use the identity that we created for her for all of her communications purposes.
